Benny Roe, a resident of St. Charles, Michigan, died in Arcadia, Florida on March 26, 2024 at the age of 82. He was born in Minella, Arkansas on June 18, 1941, the son of Virgil and Bessie (Barnes) Roe. The family later moved to St. Charles, Michigan to work in the lumber business. Following his service with the U.S. Navy, Benny returned to St. Charles where he operated Roe Brothers Sawmill with his brother Wilbur. He later went to work as a long haul truck driver with Ryder. He retired in 2007.In his younger years, he loved deer hunting, and as time rolled on, boating and fishing became his passion. Benny was a dedicated enthusiast who built snowmobiles for the International 500 Snowmobile Race in Sault Ste. Marie Michigan. His last special boat was fondly known as the \”Roe Boat,\” a Uniflite 32 Sedan boat, which was a symbol of his love for adventure. At his home in St. Charles, he enjoyed his International tractor, a reflection of the simpler pleasures he held dear. He was also known for his witty jokes, pranks, and had an uncanny ability to light up a room with his humor and charm.Benny and his beloved wife, Connie, were an inseparable pair. They drove their fifth wheel to Arizona for many winters, and in recent years, they journeyed to Arcadia, Florida. They were not just partners, but best friends, always together, sharing laughter, adventure, and a love that stood the test of time.In addition to Connie, his beloved wife of thirty-eight years, he leaves his son, Jim (Marianne) Hogue, daughter, Lori (Frank) Nauman, son, James (Mary) Roe, daughter, Susan (Mark) Detweiler; his grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Cathy Kubic and Darlene Bennett; sisters-in-law, Marie Roe and Sara Neville; brothers-in-law, Butch Helfrich and John Neville, and may extended family members and dear friends.
