Benny G Montes, 76, of Silver City, passed away November 22, 2019 in Las Cruces surrounded by his family.
Benny was born December 13, 1942 in Silver City to Benigno and Petra (Gonzales) Montes. He served his country honorably after high school in the United States Navy as a Navy Corpsman attached to the United States Marine Corp as a medic. Benny had returned and worked as a truck driver at Chino Mines.
Benny worked as a Deputy Sherriff with Grant County Sheriff Department and from there moved on to become a Municipal Court Judge for Silver City and a Probate Judge for Grant County. Most recently he had worked at Walmart. The most important thing to Benny was his family; he loved spending time with all of his family, whether it was camping, hunting, fishing or time watching his grandkids play sports. Benny will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Benny is survived by his wife, Carol; two sons, Paul (Darlene) Montes of Las Cruces and Mark Montes of Silver City; one brother, Tommy (Rosie) Montes of Bayard; one sister Reina Montes of Hurley; two Grandchildren, Vanessa Montes of Albuquerque and Justin Montes of Las Cruces. Also surviving Benny is a sister in law Gloria Montes, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benigno and Petra Montes and a brother, Reyes Montes.
