Benny Jose Montoya, 41, passed away on September 14, 2021 surrounded by loved ones at his home in Flagstaff, AZ.
Benny was born to Rosalie and Angel on May 25, 1980 in Flagstaff. Benny is survived by his children, Nyomi and Jose; his parents, Rosalie and Brian Bachstein; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Dannielle & Gerald Tafoya and Deirdre & Wyatt Martin; grandmother, Blanche Montoya; along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family. Benny is preceded in death by his wife, Rochelle Montoya.
For the last twelve years, Benny has been battling brain cancer and all that comes with it – he did so with grace, strength, and more courage than most. Anyone lucky enough to know Benny on a personal level knows all the wonderful things that could be said about him, however words always seem to fall flat in comparison to the man he truly was. Benny had a contagious smile and a jolly laugh; his heart was as big as his family, and he loved so hard it was practically tangible.
Benny was a family man, through and through; he loved unconditionally and with all of his heart. Benny will be remembered for his playful nature, excellent bear hugs, deep love for family, and extraordinary cooking skills. Benny enjoyed anything family related, hunting, fishing, low-rider cars, oldie music, and pit bulls. There are no means to fill the void Benny’s passing has left in the hearts of so many, but his family would like to express their gratitude for all the love and support received during this time and throughout the past years.
