Bennie Joe Wilson, age 75, of McBrayer Road, Clearfield, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Pioneer Trace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Flemingsburg.

 

Born February 3, 1947, at Asbury Racehorse Farm in Lexington, he was the son of the late Levi Wilson and Goldia Louvenia Williams Wilson.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Linda McIntosh, and one niece, Melissa Donahue. 

 

Bennie is survived by three daughters, Nicky Jo and husband Gordon “JJ” Jones, Jr. of Morehead, Lana and husband Brant Bowling of Morning View, Kentucky, and Dr. Kalin and husband Richard Grewelle, IV. of Palo Alto, California; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. 

 

Other survivors include four brothers, David Lee and Sharon Wilson of Sun City West, Arizona, Gerald Dwain and Sandra Wilson, Randy Dale Wilson, and Michael Lynwood and Glenna Wilson, all of Morehead; three sisters, Judy and Curt Wagoner of West Liberty, Ruth and John Dowdy of Morehead, and Cynthia Bolick of Boone, North Carolina, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.

 

Bennie was a proud U.S. Army veteran having served in Vietnam as a Specialist Five E5 with the 31st Engineer Battalion.  He was head mechanic for Cowden’s Manufacturing Company for 30 years, in addition to being a self-employed painter and carpenter. He was known as a perfectionist in his work and a friendly, outgoing person. 

 

He especially enjoyed drag racing his 1972 Red Chevy Vega at the I-64 Motorplex in Owingsville.  He was of the Christian faith and will be greatly missed by all.
