He was preceded in death by, his father, William Thomas Smith, Sr.; mother, Ola Griffin Smith Lancaster; brothers, Ottis Smith, Thomas Smith, Al Smith, and Jim Smith; sisters, Marie Smith Adams, Cammie Smith Sherrer, Julia Smith Jatko, and Dorothy Smith Phares.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Moore Smith; daughters, Sherry Smith Russell (Darol) and Anita Smith Knight (Tony); brother: A. G. Smith; grandchildren, Ben Knight (Jessica), Jordan Knight (April), and Brandi Jolly (Robert); great-grandchildren, Ethan Taylor and Peyton Jones; great-great-grandchild, Tate Taylor.
