Benjamin”Kayo”Malone, 79
Benjamin “Kayo” Malone, 79, passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 surrounded by his family at his residence in Alamogordo. He was born on May 9, 1931 in Alamogordo to Cornelius and Maria (Macias) Malone.
Kayo was a lifetime resident from Alamogordo, a member of St Jude Parish and was retired from White Sands Missile Range.
Kayo’s hobby was working on his farm in Tularosa. He built the house from the ground up and through he years had alfalfa fields, horses and various other animals. He loved to sit on the porch after a long day and just look at the beautiful mountains and scenery, many times getting honks from friends passing by.
His other hobby was going out dancing with Mary and their friends. During the week they would go to Alamo Senior Center to eat and dance with friends. On the weekends you would find them with friends and family dancing at weddings or at the VFW, and anywhere Selmo Rael would be playing, you would find him here.
He was a very patient husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. We will always remember him in the overalls he always wore with tools, Kleenex and band aids in every pocket. Every time any of us would leave he would tell us to be careful. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Mary, of the family home; daughter Diane Malone of Alamogordo; son Juan Maes of Tularosa; grandchildren Amanda Coyazo, Benjamin Coyazo and family and Michael Coyazo all of Las Cruces, Helen Chavez, husband Eric and family of Bent, Jessica Iverson, husband Rob and family and Brenda Maes and family all of Albuquerque and brothers Manuel, Edward and Louis Malone, all of Alamogordo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters.
Rosary will be recited at 9:15am on Monday, June 28, 2010 at St. Jude Parish.
