Benita Poppe Maynard, 86, longtime resident of Miami, passed away on July 29th, 2022. Born in Loda, Illinois, on November 23rd, 1935, to Edna and Eberhard Poppe, she had one sister, Alice, and was raised in Buckley, Illinois. She attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, after which she eventually went on to work as a coordinator of a hospital volunteer program.
Benita is survived by her sons, William and Mark Maynard, two grandchildren, Madison and Kyle Maynard, one nephew, Brian Funk (Grace) and one great nephew, Eric Funk. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, and her husband, Charles “Red” Maynard, to whom she was married for 60 years.
