Upland: Benita C. Glass, 78 passed away, peacefully, with family by her side on the family farm, after battling Alzheimer’s Disease, for several years.

She was born in Tipton, the daughter of the late Marion A. and Luella M. (Weakley) Warren. Harry J. Glass and she were married on March 28, 1953 in Matthews. He preceded her in death on July 10, 2003. Benita was a 1954 graduate of Gaston High School. Furthering her education she graduated from Ball State in 1974 and completed a master’s degree in education in 1976. She enjoyed teaching science and math, taught 3rd and fifth grade before her junior high school career, retiring in 1994 after 20 years with Eastbrook schools. She dedicated most of her life to serving youth with scouting, 4H, PTA, and church. She had served in many areas of the Marion Easter Pageant and was also former director of the church choir. Her memberships included: Epworth United Methodist Church, Matthews Lions Club, Astronomy Club, Muncie, and Gideon International Auxiliary, Hartford City Camp.

Survivors include her son, Dan (Cindy) Glass, Matthews; three daughters, Linda Morgan, Upland, Janice (Greg) Rittenhouse, Portland, Jacque (Keith) Sheets, Matthews; a brother, L.D. Warren, Marion; brother-in-law, Larry (Flo) Glass, Upland; and sisters-in-law, Bonnie (Bill) Wilson, Gaston, and Wilma Glass, Gaston; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by brothers, Bob, Bill, infants Elmer, and George; and a grandson, Jordan Rittenhouse.
