Belva D. Hosey, 91, of Brighton, passed away on July 10, 2012. She was born August 9, 1920 in Oshkosh, NE to Raleigh McClary and Bertha McCartney. She graduated from Brighton High School in 1939 and later married Ray Hosey on April 11, 1942 in Abilene, TX.

Belva was the co-owner and operator of Ray’s Superette at 6th and Longspeak in Brighton for 15 years. She retired from the Adams County Treasurer’s office after working there for over 10 years.

Belva enjoyed playing bridge with her friends, attending CU football games and baking pies and cookies for her family. She also played tennis until the age of 85 and worked in her yard tirelessly.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Jim) Dent and Cathy (Bob) Tatton; three grandsons, Greg (Heidi) Dent, Kirk Dent and Travis Dent; sister-in-laws, Alma Davis and Margaret Hosey; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Belva is preceded in death by her husband, Ray, and sisters, Barbara and Betty.
