Beatrice “Bea” Talley was the sixth child of the late Arthur W. Talley, Sr. and Alfreida Byrd Talley. She was born on September 4, 1966 in Olney, Maryland. Although Bea was born with Spina Bifida, that did not hinder her drive as she was the first African American poster child for March of Dimes as well as part of the first group of disabled children to integrate mainstream schools in Montgomery County.
She attended and graduated from Richard Montgomery High School in 1984. She earned her certification in Computer Based Accounting. Bea worked as a payroll assistant and accounts receivable clerk at Centers for the Handicapped and Vitro Corporation. After health complications forced Bea to stop working she spent most of her time caring for the great minions in the family.
Bea enjoyed reading, watching the Orioles/Redskins, NCIS, CSI to check out Shemar Moore, her beloved Golden Girls, writing recaps of her favorite soaps online, posting to Facebook and generally annoying her family. Bea was proficient in ordering take out, cooking either bland or undercooked food, keeping the fire department and EMS busy, and loved rolling through the house half-dressed often terrifying the children. Bea was famous for venturing out on her own and having falls out of her wheelchair… .Again, cue EMS.
