Beatrice Holland was born on November 19, 1920, in Valley, Louisiana to her parents, Otis Burton and Lucy Lawson Burton. She was the oldest child born in the family. She was raised surrounded by her siblings, Darcell, Pearline, Mattie Lovie, and Parnell. She was very close with her siblings. She received her early education in Cotton Valley, LA where she completed her elementary education and she graduated with honors from the Webster Parish High School. On January 8, 1944, Beatrice united in holy matrimony to Rossie Holland in Eldorado, Arkansas. They relocated to California. The couple shared a loving and happy marriage. They were inseparable. They were fondly called “Mutt & Jeff” because they were always together. With this union, Rossie became the step father of Roosevelt Long. With the family now being complete, they all shared many happy and precious moments together. In 1945, they settled in Denver, Colorado due to health reasons. Her husband, Rossie and son, Roosevelt preceded her in death. Beatrice was affectionately called “Bea or Aunt Bea” by family and friends. She was a hard working person who always put forth her best effort in anything she set her mind to accomplish.
