Beatrice “Bea” Ann Jirges Fichter passed away on April 5, 2016, at at her home in Kila surrounded by her family.
She was born to Joseph W. Jirges and Mary E. Pavlicek on April 24, 1939, in Dickinson, North Dakota.
She grew up in New Hradec, North Dakota, and Dickinson, where she went to school.
She met the love of her life, Alex Fichter, and they were married in 1958 in Dickinson. They had three boys, Duane, born on January 3, 1960; Sidney, born on February 11, 1961; and Marvin, born on May 16, 1963. Bea worked for Woolworths in Dickinson.
In April of 1964, a month before the big flood, they moved to Kalispell, where they raised their three boys. Bea was employed at the Hut Cafe, Guy Gees, Huskey House, and the old B&B Restaurants. She was employed at Drug Fair until she became disabled.
She and Al helped raise their grandchildren. In 1995, the family moved to Kila.
She and Al loved to go camping and fishing, which was their pastime that they loved. Their grandchildren would also come, and they enjoyed camping and fishing too. She liked to garden, do needlework, crochet, puzzles and watch TV. They went to St. Matthews Catholic Church.
Beatrice was preceded in death by her father, mother, and sister.
She is survived by her husband, Alex Fichter; sons Daune Fichter of Kila and Sidney Fichter; and grandchildren Brian Fichter, of Kila, and Rebecca Fichter, of Seattle, Washington; son Marvin Fichter, of Fort Collins, Colorado; sisters Hattie Polensky, of Kalispell, and Martha Joblonsky, of Dickinson; and many other relatives and friends who called her “Mom.”
She loved her family very much and will be missed by her family and friends.
