Basil Theodore Paris went to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ on Nov 3, 2006, from complications caused from Alzheimer’s disease that destroyed his mind, but not his heart and kind, gentle spirit.
He leaves 8 grandchildren, Richard Chandler, Basil Lynn Belcher, Katie, Kyle, Christopher, and Jocelyn Nieft, and Bailey and Lauren Danelius. He had one great-grandchild, Brook Nadine Chandler. He also leaves two sisters, Isabelle/Billy Donaldson and Sonja/Pete Adcox, and one brother, Melvin/Becky Paris, of Rocky Mount, N.C.
He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews and a special nephew, Bud Swazy of Shreveport, La, who was his hunting and fishing buddy.
Basil was born March 15, 1928. He grew up in Rocky Mount, N.C. He served 20 years in the Air Force. After retiring, he went to work for Sears as Parts Department Manager. He was also owner and manager of Wright Mobile Home Park in Ft Walton Beach. Along with other duties in the Air Force, he was the Leader of the Honor Guard at Reese and at Eglin.
Basil earned many awards, commendations, certificates, and honors during his lifetime, but the largest award that he received was a home in Heaven with his Lord, Jesus Christ. He loved his Lord!
Basil loved traveling, cruising, music, dancing, and people (especially children).
