Basil John Brudnak, 87, of LaSalle, formerly of Lake In the Hills, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at the Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle.

Mr. Brudnak was born on February 3, 1932 in Flint, MI to John and Susan (Marzonie) Brudnak. He was a graduate of Michigan State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in geology. He married Doris Jean Wade on June 18, 1966 in Algonquin.

Mr. Brudnak was a veteran of the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of Corporal. He served during the Korean War in the construction corps at Chateauroux Air Station in France.

Mr. Brudnak worked at the United States Postal Service for 25 years. He enjoyed fishing, sailing, camping, gardening and reading. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Parish in Algonquin.

He is survived by three children, Mark (Fumika) Brudnak of Springfield, Andrew (Kristen) Brudnak of Brookfield and Lucy (Stephen) Rose of St. Paul, MN; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris on April 13, 2010; one son, Matthew Brudnak on March 5, 2019; his parents; two brothers, Nick Brudnak and John Brudnak, Jr. and five sisters, Helen Brudnak, Lucille Schuplin, Mary Christensen, Theresa Thomas and Julia Hogan
