Basil Ezra Lee Surber, 86, of Anderson, passed away on January 22, 2021, at his residence.

He was born on October 22, 1934, in Anderson, where he resided all of his life. Basil served his country in the United States Marine Corps, and he retired from General Motors Division of General Motors after over 30 years of service. He attended Valley Grove Freewill Baptist Church and was a member of the Lapel Eagles Lodge, and he enjoyed water aerobics at The White River Club. He enjoyed karaoke, camping, dancing, singing in the choir, going out to eat, and watching basketball, specifically Indiana University, Indiana Pacers, and Frankton High School.

Basil is survived by his loving wife, Diane Surber; daughters, Jamie Lou (John) Cooper, Lisa Anne (Gary) Edwards, Paula Jean (George) Covington, Mandy (Shane) Neff, grandchildren, Jeremy (Lindsay), Billy, Tony “TJ” Julian, Michelle (Chris) Holloway, Evan Covington, Crissy (Tony)McNichols; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Gavin, Rowan, and Violet Julian, Carter Holloway, Luke, and Audrey Neff, Isaiah Covington, Bella McNichols, Alexis Short; step-children, Tamra (Charles) Mink, Kimberly Ousley, Michael Atwood; cousins, Jack (Marilyn) Barker, Ronald Barker, and Barbara Jones; brothers in law, Charles (Barbara) Tipton, and Robert (Peggy Hilton) Tipton.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vivian Sue Surber; son, Basil Lee Surber, Jr.; mother, Barbara Schultz, and his father, Theodore Surber.
