SMITH, Barry R. died March 5, 2013, at the age of 64. He was born November 10, 1948, in Detroit, MI to the late B. Ward and Joan Schneeman Smith.
Barry was united in marriage to Elizabeth Sloan on May 4, 1974, for nearly 39 loving years together. Barry graduated from Kalamazoo College and the University of Michigan Law School. After several years of practicing law in Chicago and Grand Rapids, he returned to Kalamazoo in 1985. Barry loved everything about airplanes. He rebuilt and flew World War II trainers, flew Warbirds and the Ford Trimotor for the Air Zoo, and served on the Air Zoo board for 14 years. However, his greatest love was watching Kirby and Meg grow into the intelligent, articulate, and beautiful women they have become.
Barry leaves behind his wife, Elizabeth Sloan Smith; 2 daughters, K. Kirby Smith and Margaret Smith both of Ann Arbor; sister, Barbara John Thompson; 3 nieces and 3 nephews.
