Barry L. Jacobe, the son of Lucille (Waugh) and Melvin Elwood Jacobe, was born February 8, 1947 at Osborne, Kansas. He departed this life on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 70 years, 2 months and 15 days.
At the age of five Barry and family moved to Sea View, Washington where he began his formal education and the family later moved to Seattle, Washington where he graduated from high school in 1965. A veteran of the United States Air Force, Barry served a tour of duty in Vietnam. Following his discharge he moved to Turner, Oregon and in 1970, he moved to Red Cloud to make his home where he was employed at Abbott’s Dairy working for Bud Priest. On January 10, 1972 he was united in marriage with Haroldine Kudrna at Hastings, Nebraska. This union was blessed with a son, Gary Lee and a daughter, Carmen Renee. They made their home for a period of time in Hastings where he worked with Cook Paint. They then lived at Beloit, Kansas where both Barry and Haroldine were employed with the Mitchell County Hospital. They returned to Red Cloud to raise their family and Barry went to work with the Dutton-Lainson Company at Hastings. He additionally worked for a period of time with his father-in-law doing roofing work with Kudrna Roofing. He returned to Dutton-Lainson where he worked once again until his retirement on November 22, 2006.
Barry had a number of interests and activities in his leisure time. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed following the Green Bay Packers as well as the Northwest Missouri State College sports program. His greatest love and enthusiasm in life was for his family. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W.
Preceding him in death were his father, Melvin Jacobe on November 27, 1982 and a brother-in-law, Fred Hernandez.
Left to treasure his memory are his wife, Haroldine Jacobe of Red Cloud, Nebraska; son, Gary Jacobe and wife Christine of Bend, Oregon; daughter, Carmen Jacobe of Longmont, Colorado; a sister, Cynthia Hernandez of Beaver City, Nebraska; his mother, Lucille Jacobe of Red Cloud; other relatives and friends.
