Barry J. Powlishen, age 51, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Mindy Powlishen, passed away suddenly Sunday, February 3, 2019 while in the midst of playing one his favorite sports, hockey. Barry was born in Hartford, CT, the son of late Fred and Sadie (Edna) Powlishen. He received his BS and MBA degrees from the University of Connecticut, where he played on the golf team. He was an avid golfer, a member of the H. Smith Richardson Men’s Club, and a past member of the Fairfield Golf Commission. Barry loved to play golf wherever he could from coast to coast, and always looked forward to his golf trips to Ireland with his buddies. Barry also loved hockey and played at every chance he got. He played on the hockey club team at UConn and in various local leagues throughout southern CT. He became an avid boater and was proud to be a lousy fisherman. He, with the help of his friends, taught himself to play guitar.
