Barbara (Cusano) Waddell, 64, of Plainville, passed away with her family by her side on Tuesday April 19, 2011, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Southington on February 19, 1947, she was one of four children to the late Anthony and Sophie (Grabelski) Cusano.  Raised in Southington, she was a 1965 graduate of Southington High School, and married her best friend and childhood sweetheart, Thomas shortly after.  Together, they shared 45 years of love and life adventures, and raised their two sons.  A devoted mother and grandmother, Barbara loved nothing more in life than being surrounded by her family.  Hosting the holidays were a passion of hers where she could share her joy for cooking with those she loved.  She looked forward to her annual trips with Tom to Cape Cod, where she could enjoy the beauty of the ocean, read some of her many books and work on her crossword puzzles.  The social butterfly of her family, Barbara made new friends wherever she went, and leaves a legacy of love and selflessness towards others that will forever be remembered.

In addition to her husband, Tom, she leaves her sons, Shawn and his wife, Barbara of Plainville and Kevin and his fiancée Stacey Clough of Brimfield, MA; her adored grandchildren, Ashley, Matthew, Marc and Aubrey Waddell; and was the proudest great-grandmother to Ella Davis.  She also leaves her sister, Valerie Wright and her husband, John of East Hampton; her brothers Robert Cusano and his wife, Lucille of Southington and Joseph Cusano and his companion, Shirley Shepard of NYC; along with her nieces, Andrea and Roberta Cusano, and Diana Wright, and her nephew Jason Wright, several aunts, cousins and close friends, all who will miss her dearly.

Family and friends may gather to celebrate her life on Monday April 25, 2011 from 4-8 p.
