Born on September 19, 1928, Barbara Venegas Collins of North Linthicum passed away on July 10th, two months shy of her 91st birthday. “Bobbie” loved to sing and taught line dancing into her early seventies.

She is survived by her two children: Denise Evans and Don Collins along with his wife Laurene. She will also be missed by her five grandchildren: Matthew Evans and Amie Burkholder along with her husband Nathan; James Collins; Richard Collins along with his wife Krista, and Katherine Showalter along with her husband Andy. Her five great-grandchildren are Evan Burkholder, Renee and Logan Collins, and Olivia and Tatum Showalter. Bobbie was happiest in her role as Mom Mom to the little ones, doting on them, spoiling them.

An army brat from Fort Meyer, Virginia, Bobbie and her sister Ruby lived on base with their mother Mazie and dad, Sergeant Fred C. Venegas. Later, they settled in Ferndale, MD, where the girls graduated from Glen Burnie High School. The two sisters married two brothers, Emmett and Charles, resulting in several children whose pictures could have belonged to either family.

After retiring Bobbie stayed active in groups such as The Sodality at St. Philip Neri and The Women’s Club of Linthicum Heights. However, her heart was always with her family, the family that was so much richer because of Barbara Collins.
