Barbara Ruth Simonin, age 77, of Manchester, MO, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Delmar Gardens West Nursing Home in Town and Country, MO. Barbara was born in Kewanna, IN on August 5, 1939, the daughter of Alma Ruth (Hott) and Fairmont Fredrick Meiser.
She attended St. Margaret’s School of nursing, where she became a registered nurse, and worked for the Jasper County Hospital and the Rensselaer Care Center. In 1964, in Rensselaer, Indiana, Barbara married Sherman Simonin Jr., and the couple had three children.
Her husband, Sherman Simonin Jr. passed away on November 3, 1968. Barbara lived in Rensselaer for approximately 40 years, and then in later years lived with her children near Dallas, TX and St. Louis, MO and enjoyed spending time with her five grandchildren: Zachary, Christopher and Jonathan Burt; Brendan and Ryan Simonin.
Surviving Barbara are two children, Teresa (Simonin) Burt of St. Louis, MO, and Sherman III & (Carolyn) Simonin of Dallas, TX; along with her three sisters, Joyce (Meiser) Hoefert of Columbus, GA, Mary & (Mark) Bertagnolli of Munster, IN, and Jean (Meiser) McNelly of Punta Gorda, FL. Also preceding Barbara in death in addition to her husband were her parents Alma and Fairmont Meiser, her son Paul Simonin, and her brother Larry Meiser.
