Barbara Parriott Seuring, 79, of Freeport, IL, died Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Select Specialty Hospital in Madison, following an extended illness.

She was born Barbara Laura Parriott, the daughter of Ralph W. and Pearl D. (Nesemeyer) Parriott, on November 1, 1928 in Freeport, IL. She was a 1947 graduate of Freeport High School, where she played in the orchestra.

She was employed at Northwestern Telephone Co., Crum & Forster, Quality Roofing, Freeport Thrift Co., Chicago Motor Club, World Travel Center and co-founded Bar-Berta Travel Designs. She was a Certified Travel Consultant (CTC) of American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA), Institute of Certified Travel Agents (ICTA). She had traveled around the world, including north of the Arctic Circle, Africa, Australia, China, Europe, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Korea, New Zealand, and Russia, going to sea before her son, Brian, who was serving in the US Navy.

Barbara loved to garden, sew, cook and bake, her specialty was breakfast rolls, which many of you have enjoyed. She was a life-long member of St John United Church of Christ, where she had taught Sunday School, was a member of the church choir, the Dramatic Guild, Women’s Fellowship, Mary Martha’s, Tau Alpha Circle, and Pairs n’ Spares.

She was also a member American Business Women’s Association (ABWA), Freeport Choral Society, Freeport Garden Club, Quota Club and Taylor Gardeners, and was a member and past President of Scottish Rite Women’s Club-Valley of Freeport. She attended formal and informal schools of travel in Chicago and Madison, and enjoyed Dale Carnegie Institute in Freeport, again later with her son, Brian.

Surviving are two sons, Brian L (Mary) Hamon of Freeport, Karl E Seuring of Redmond, WA, and one grandson, Ben Hamon, of Freeport. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Howard T. and Donald W. Parriott; niece, Lauri Parriott; nephew, Kevin Parriott; husbands, Thomas Hamon and Lowell Seuring, and great friend Curt Hutmacher.
