Barbara P. Beckman, 75 of Freeport, IL, formerly of Chetek, WI, passed away at her home on March 4, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 20, 1942 in Franklin Park, IL; the daughter of the late Stephen and Dorothy (Tamillo) Billon. She graduated from East Leyden High School in Franklin Park. Barbara married Edward Beckman in 1960 in Chicago, IL; he passed away September 7, 2014.
Owner of Pine Tree Ceramics, Barbara had classes for both crafting and painting which she enjoyed while serving the community as an EMT. She’s a previous employee of Kirkwood’s IGA, where she worked for many years. Barbara enjoyed the arts, especially crafting and painting, and she gave classes in both. She was a very DIY, do it yourself, type of person. She was an avid Farkle and Cribbage player. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Barbara will always be remembered as a well spirited person who was always happy. She was always there to help her family and friends and was always of service to the women she surrounded herself with.
She is survived by her children, Dorothy (Terry) Ash of Freeport, Doreen Beckman of Freeport, Diana (Chris Jakic) Beckman of Hebron, IL, Edward (Tammy) Beckman of Chetek, Steve (Denise Williams) Beckman of Bristol, WI, Ann Marie (Bob Babcock) Yeager of Weyerhaeuser, WI, and Victoria (Chris Mulkerin) Sjoholm of St. Petersburg, FL; 17 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; brothers, Jim Billon of Chetek and Skip (Rita) Billon of Silver Lake, WI; sister-in-law’s, Sue Billon of Chetek and Kit Provenzano of Cherry Valley, IL; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; grandson, Jeremy Beckman; great grandson, Ashton, Beckman; and brother, Michael Billon.
