Barbara M. Markey, age 78, of Bridgeport, passed peacefully the afternoon of Friday, September 2, 2022. Born in Bridgeport on July 22, 1944, Barbara grew up in Fairfield, graduating from Roger Ludlowe High School. She would remain a life-long area resident. Barbara was married to Lewis P. Markey, whom she had her two beloved children with, before divorcing while their children were still young.
Barbara was truly a nature lover, going for long walks and gardening.
Barbara is survived by her loving children, John Markey (Leslie), and Shannon Markey (Jeremy); her seven cherished grandchildren, David, Christopher, Kaylee, Bret, Howie, Brody, and Matthew; as well as one adored great-grandchild, Soren. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Murphy, and nieces, Laura Flores (Bebe), and Cheryl Reilly (Matt). Barbara is predeceased by her sister, Margie Boncek, and two nieces, Kelly and Patty Murphy.
