Barbara Lynn Garman, 62, of Jacksonville, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born March 20, 1950, in Keokuk, IA, the daughter of Junior Dale and Fern LaVern Surratt Tarr. She married Glenn F. “Butch” Garman on Jan. 24, 1981, in Jacksonville and he survives.

She is also survived by her son, Brandon “B.J.” (wife, Sarah) Garman of Jacksonville; a step-daughter, Glenna (husband, Marshall) Prather of Rushville; two step-grandsons, Nicholas and Tristen; two step-granddaughters, Hannah and Claire; five sisters and one brother, Diane Rohlfing of Beardstown, Deb (husband, Gordie) Leake of Jefferson City, MO, Mary Smith of Quincy, Lori Massey of Carthage, John (wife, Joyce) Tarr of Jefferson City, MO, and Tam (husband, Charles) McCullough of Hannibal, MO; and her mother-in-law, Alice R. Garman of Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Jason Lawrence Garman; and one brother, Richard Dale Tarr.

Mrs. Garman was a graduate of Quincy High School. She worked at Mobil Chemical in Jacksonville for 26 years, and then at Hertzberg New Method for eight years, before retiring due to ill health. Barbara loved to read, crochet and enjoyed doing crafts work. She especially loved her dogs.
