Barbara Lee Gangawere Scruggs, age 75, of Grantville, Ga., passed away on Tuesday, Jun 19, 2007 at Newnan Hospital. She was born on in Connellsville, PA. to the late Clyde Ernest Gangawere, Sr. and Margaret Ellen Tate.
She is survived by her husband, William Gordon Scruggs of Grantville, GA., daughter, Valerie Lynn Scruggs of Manhattan, NY, son, Derek J. Scruggs of Boulder; CO., son, Gregory V. Scruggs of Grantville, GA., grandson, Justin Scruggs of Grantville, GA., brother, Clyde Gangawere, Jr. of Jackson, MS & brother, Harry Gangawere of Greenville, TX Mrs. Scruggs graduated from Greensburg High School in PA in 1950, after high school she attended St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated as a RN in 1954, served in the USAF Nurse Corps from 1957-1958.
Later Mrs.Scruggs served in leadership positions in the Republican party and the Republican Women’s Club, she held a seat on the school board for 12 years, she was president of an organization for the wives of Eastern Airlines pilots and the local Heart Association, she was active in the NCAA , has taken part in Childhood Literacy programs and had a great interest in Visual Arts.
