It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of 87 year old Hamden resident, Mrs. Barbara K. Weiand who passed at home in the care of Vitas Hospice on Saturday July 24, 2021. Barbara was a former Hamden elementary school teacher and well known mainstay of the Westville neighborhood. An avid gardener she was a member of the Westville Garden Club. She loved cooking and creating her own recipes. Her hobbies included gardening, arts and crafts, and collecting figurines of Santa Claus. Barbara loved music from opera to jazz and even some later pop music. She was also a huge fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. Barbara also held many other jobs over the years, her last being with the Keyes and Looney Law firm. Barbara loved and cared for many dogs in her lifetime. Barbara was predeceased by the love of her life, husband Martin M. Weiand Jr., brother Robert Keane and sister Lorraine “Honey” Goulet. She is survived by her two children, son Martin M. Weiand III and daughter Sue Allen, brother Richard (Marie) Keane, cousin Paul Keane, several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and her dedicated caregiver Monique Johnson.
