Barbara Joan (Hyde) Scalo, 82, of Easton, CT passed away at home on July 29, 2017. Born in Providence, RI on August 8, 1934, to Arthur and Grace (Wright) Hyde, Barbara was raised and grew up in Lincoln, RI surrounded by her extended family. At an early age she showed artistic talent and went on to win multiple state and national art prizes. After graduating from Rhode Island School of Design she moved to Boston to work as a graphic designer, and while living there met her future husband, Richard Scalo. The couple relocated to Connecticut where they worked and raised their two children. In addition to being a wife and mother, Barbara was a professional artist, a Museum Docent, a Cub Scout Den Mother and donated her time and talents to various charities.
