Barbara Joan Brown, age 89, of Rensselaer, Ind. passed away on April 16, 2020, in her home. She was born on March 10, 1931, in Rensselaer, Ind. to Alfred and Ruth (Anding) Fletcher.

Barbara was educated in the Rensselaer Schools and graduated with the Class of 1949. On August 27, 1950, in Rensselaer, Ind. She married John Charles “Jack” Brown, who preceded her in death on December 23, 2009. Barbara was a devoted homemaker, mother, and wife. She was employed by Saint Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Ind. where she created delicious baked goods in the bakery. She also helped serve the resident priests at the College. A lover of animals, Barbara enjoyed caring for and showing dogs and ponies. Her greatest love was spending time with her family. Barbara was a former member of the Brushwood United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Tri-Kappa Sorority and a Saint Joseph’s College Fellow.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Julie (Tony) Williams, and her son-in-law, Jon Brouwer; four grandsons; and five great-grandchildren.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, parents, her daughter Debra Brouwer, one brother, and three sisters.
