Barbara Jo Newton, of Henderson, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 27, 2024, at the age of 78, after a long illness.Barb was born on February 19, 1946, the daughter of Elmer and Flora (Miller) Olson in Flint, Michigan. She graduated from Atherton High School in 1964, and soon after married her husband, Victor Newton on May 6, 1967. They spent 45 years together until his death in 2012. Together, Victor and Barb had three children, Joanne, David, and Daniel.Barbara was first and foremost a wife and mother. She won awards for home economics. Many will remember the beautifully decorated birthday, graduation, bridal, wedding and her favorite, baby shower cakes. She was an artist, drawing and painting, crafting, photography and decorating for Christmas. Her cooking was amazing and always seemed to remember everyone’s favorite dish. She was best known for her capacity for love, laughter and goofiness. Many of us remember her breaking out in song and dancing a little jig or tango. But, more important, Barbara was known for her faith in Christ. Her greatest prayer was to go home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ.Surviving Barbara are her children: Joanne and Steven Carstensen; David and Shasta Newton; Daniel and Cathy Newton; Grandchildren, Clayton Carstensen, Amanda and Russell Terrian, Ellis Newton and Amelia Newton; Great Grandchildren, Angel (Nathan) Terrian, Russell Terrian, Jr, Trenton Terrian; Bonus Grandchildren, Dentrell and Denzel Scott, and Ricky Garrett; Sister, Sharon Williams; Brothers/Sisters-in-law, Arliss and Dan Liddell; Michael and Diane Newton, David Flesher and Roger Towne. She was also blessed with many nieces and nephews. All the bonus children through the years. Special friends Dorothy Saulnier and Cheryl Sutliff. She was predeceased by: Husband, Victor; father and mother Elmer Flora Olson; father in-law and mother-in law, Ivan Rebecca Newton, sisters-in-law Beverly Towne, Elaine Flesher and Eleanor Newton; and brothers-in-law, Lou Williams and Leslie (Butch) Newton, and nephew, Alex Towne.
