Barbara Jo Ellis Funk, born July 20, 1943, departed this life peacefully in the presence of her family on September 22, 2018.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; John Oscar Ellis and Grace Del Goodman Massey, and her brother Ersell Hutto.
She graduated from Murphy High School in 1961. She has been a very active member of Athena Mardi Gras Association for many years. She served on the board of the organization for a number of years in many positions as well as serving as the President (Queen) in 2010. She loved her family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly.
She is survived by her three daughters; Elizabeth Middleton, Wanda Boles, Diane Heathcoe, her brother Hollis (Almedia) Hutto, seven grandchildren; Ashley Funk, Anthony (Savanna) Boles, Brittany Alexander, Andrew Sellers, Reese Heathcoe, Karl Allen (Savannah) Middleton, and Amber Middleton, six great grandchildren; Zoe, Izabel Alexander, Blake and Sapphire Boles, Ronan and Lily Middleton, a very special friend and caregiver Scott Byrd, and many other family and friends.
