Barbara Jean Durden Smith, 79, of Melrose and formerly of San Mateo, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at Riverwood Health and Rehab in Starke. She was a native of Soperton, GA, and had lived in Melrose for the past 8 years coming from San Mateo. Barbara was actively involved in church and was a member of Believers Worship Center Church of God in Melrose. She enjoyed cooking, attending church, and spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William R. Smith, son, David Smith, daughter, Donna Hartwell, parents, Dalton and Mamie Durden, as well as 6 siblings.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra Beck (Don) of Melrose, son-in-law, Doug Hartwell, grandchildren, William Scott Hartwell (Johanna), and Melissa Marie Hartwell, a great-grandson, Logan David Hartwell as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
