Mrs. Barbara Jean Roberts was born October 5, 1940 in Meridian, Mississippi to the late Burwell Martin and Willie Mae Martin.
Barbara professed a hope in Christ at an early age. She was a member of Abyssinian Baptist Church and later became a member of Shinning Star Baptist Church.
On December 10, 1960 Barbara was united in holy matrimony to the late Willie B. Roberts.
Barbara was employed at St. Vincent Hospital for 35 years and retired in 2004.
Aunt Barbara or Barb as she was affectionately known by family and friends loved singing in the church choir and spending time with friends and family. Barbara had a giving spirit and loved working crossword puzzles.
Barbara Roberts departed this life on Friday, December 18, 2020 at the age of 80 years, 2 months and 14 days. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Roberts; her parents, Burwell and Willie Mae Martin; two sisters, Pearlie Mae Clark and Julia Martin-Norman and one son, Gregory Morrow.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Jackie Harris of Atlanta, Georgia, Tara (Estern) Howard of Indianapolis, Indiana; one son, Steve Roberts of Indianapolis, Indiana; five sisters, Betty Webb of Chicago, Illinois, Betty Naylor of Guntown, Mississippi, Sara Sims, Joyce Boyd and Gloria (Dennis) Granger of Meridian, Mississippi; one brother, Frank Martin, Sr. of Gary, Indiana; six grandchildren, Walter, James, Jamoni, Oscar, Destiny, Markeeta; six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relative and friends.
