Barbara Jane Herbert accepted God’s call on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 to join him eternally in the Kingdom of Heaven and into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior.
Barbara Jane Herbert was born on April 27, 1946 to the late Harvey Milton Mathews and Inez Odessa Holland Mathews. Barbara started her young life in Maryland and later moved to Washington, D.C. where she attended public schools and graduated from Calvin Coolidge High School, she later went on to start a career in the Federal Government working under the agency of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in where she worked for 44 years before she retired in 2009.
Barbara married Stanley Herbert in 1965 and from that union they had two children: Denise Herbert and Stanley Herbert, Jr. She was a devoted wife and mother. She accepted Christ in her life at an early age and became a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church where she enjoyed worshiping until she could no longer attend.
She had three very special loves of her life aside from her children and they were her granddaughter Marissa Page, grandson; Stanley Herbert lll and her granddog; Bentley. She always spoke of them with such love in her heart. Barbara always had a smile and a pleasant word for everyone, her zestful outgoing personality was tastefully combined with a tender unconditional love for everyone she knew. She had a love for hand dancing, traveling and was a world-class shopper (TJ Maxx). Barbara will be sorely missed by all of her friends and all that she touched in life.
She leaves to cherish her memories: two children, Denise Herbert and Stanley Herbert Jr.; two grandchildren, Marissa Page and Stanley Herbert III; One nephew, Jonathan Dorsey; One brother, Harvey Mathews and a host of relatives and devoted friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; Harvey Milton Mathews, Inez Odessa Holland Mathews, and one sister, Pearl E. Dorsey.
