Barbara Joy Carroll, 73, of Jacksonville, IL died Monday, April 23, 2012 at the Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.
She was born July 7, 1938 in London, England; the daughter of Arthur E. and Phyllis May Hill. She married William F. Carroll on January 21, 1967 in England and he survives.
She is also survived by six children, Gail Frances Carroll of Odenville, AL, Robert Alfred Horton and Ricky Martin Horton, both of Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, England, Ralph John Carroll (wife, Tracey) of Tauranga, New Zealand, Karen Lesley Whomsley (husband, Simon) of Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, England, and Darren Lee Carroll (wife, Lissa) of Rickmansworth, Hartfordshire, England; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a sister, Marcia Dressler (husband, Paul) of Swindon, Wittshire, England; and a niece. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Carroll was an auxiliary nurse in England for 25 years before relocating to the United States. She served as an assistant teacher for Pathway School for 15 years prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Church of England and enjoyed bowling, camping and playing Bingo.
