Barbara Frances Horton, age 92, passed away on Thursday, May 08, 2008. Born in St. Albans, WV, on May 16, 1915, she was the daughter of Eugene Parke Billups and Minerva Cadle Billups. A longtime resident of Shepherdstown, WV, she recently lived at Heritage Place in Boerne, Texas, where she was a member of the Welcoming Committee and served on the Resident Council. Mrs. Horton had been a former member of the Covenant Baptist Church in Shepherdstown, and the Appalachian Trail Club. She was a legal secretary for many years for Columbia Gas Transmission Company in Charleston, WV. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Margaret Burdette and Alice Woodard, and two brothers, Edward and Bruce Billups. Mrs. Horton is survived by her son, Harry Alonzo Horton and his wife, Carol Ann of Port St. Lucie, FL; daughters, Karen Minerva Nopper and her husband, Arthur Raymond Nopper of Harpers Ferry, WV, and Helen Kathleen Lyons and her husband, Thomas Alexander Lyons of Fair Oaks Ranch, TX; grandchildren, Melissa Ann Nopper, Sara Beth Progin and her husband, Keith, Joseph Parke Lyons and his wife Suzanne, and Sarah Kathleen Lloyd and her husband, Matthew; great grandchildren, Madeline Emelene Lyons and Jacob Herschel Lloyd.
