BARBARA C. HOGAN (CRAFTON), 90, formerly of Edgewood RI and Clearwater FL, passed away peacefully after a short illness on January 31, 2023 at the North Providence home of her daughter Barbara and Peter Rios. She was surrounded by her large and loving family.

Barbara, the daughter of the late John and Adrienne Fitzgerald Crafton, was born on November 14, 1932, in Providence, RI.

For 53 years, Barbara was married to the love of her life, John “Jack” Hogan. Together, they created a beautiful life, sharing seven children: their beloved Patty, whom they cherished; Kathleen (Jim) Byrne, Michael (Kim) Hogan, John (Diane) Hogan, Susan (Dennis) Saillant, Barbara (Peter) Rios, and Thomas (Lalania) Hogan. She was most proud of her amazing grandchildren: Alison (Shane) Lagor, John (Katherine) McCrillis, her beloved late granddaughter Stephanie Eliason; Dr. Katie Hogan and her fiancé Nick LaBoffe, Andrew (Julia) Hogan, Dr. Michael Hogan and his fiancé Joseph Rim; Sarah (Nathan) Dell, Susan McCrillis and her fiancé Zack Barnes; Eric Eliason; Brian (Nicole) McCrillis, Matthew Hogan; Sophie Beron (Michael) Corin, and Jack Hogan. She also leaves behind her nieces, Adrienne Dowling, Victoria Bush, Kathleen Masterson, Barbara Harrison, and nephew John Masterson.

Barbara’s great-grandchildren acted as a constant source of joy to her; she was “G-G” to them. She is survived by: James and Molly Lagor, Ella Eliason, Leighton Eliason, Elizabeth, Charlotte and William McCrillis, Natalie Barnes, Cora Hogan, Quinn Dell, and soon-to-be Cillian McCrillis. Barbara had many other beloved members in her extended family, including Mary Ellen Hogan and David Beron.

Barbara graduated from St. Xavier Academy in 1950. She was known for her outstanding math skills as well as being a spelling bee champion. She was an Executive Assistant at United Way of Rhode Island for more than 20 years. In the early 1960’s, Barbara was a talented TV game show winner on the program, Say When!! She won 3 cars, a fur coat, a trip to Palm Springs, California, bedroom and dining room furniture, and copious amounts of jewelry and frozen meat. Jack drove the red sports car to his job at Narragansett Electric for many years, and the seven kids ate frozen veal cutlets for the next decade.

Known for her quick wit and sense of spicy humor, Barbara was constantly surrounded by love and friendship–keeping in touch with her large family and circle of friends daily. Barbara was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Church, Cranston, RI for many years, and her Catholic faith was a foundation of her daily life. She enjoyed singing, playing weekly bingo games, watching Hallmark movies, and reading Danielle Steele romance novels. She loved to travel, go on cruises, and enjoyed her hot wiener Wednesdays with her son Michael!

Barbara was loved by all, and she will be sadly missed.
