Barbara R. Higgins, 96, of Silver Ridge Park Westerly section of Berkeley Township, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 30, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Higgins was born in Bayonne to Joseph W. and Mary P. Rezanka and predeceased by her beloved husband John J. Higgins in 2000.
She is survived by her loving children Dr. John J. Higgins and Jackie Megee, Kevin and Sheila Higgins, Mary Jane and Helge Nordtveit, and Kathleen H. and Rick Seyffart; her cherished grandchildren Megan Hastings, Darren Higgins, Courtney Higgins, Kate, Allie, and Rich Seyffart, and Claire and Jean Higgins; her great-grandchildren, Parker and Griffin Hastings, and Chloe and Ophelia Higgins; her grandson-in-law Erik Hastings, her granddaughter-in-law Emilie De Schaetzen and Amy DeThomaso and beloved extended family.
Mrs. Higgins worked for many years on the production lines of Western Electric and retired from The John F. Kennedy Medical Center as a billing clerk. Barbara raised her children with her husband in Bayonne and Iselin, N.J. before retiring to Toms River, N.J. When she wasn’t volunteering at the Women’s Auxiliary First Aid Squad, Barbara and her husband enjoyed traveling locally and abroad. Barbara’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, playing (cheating at?) cards, playing mahjong at the club house, quilting, sewing, and sneaking into the occasional movie with her friends.
