Muncie – Barbara Gail Nickell, 72, passed away Monday, February 17, 2014, at Signature Health Care following a brief illness.
Barbara was born in Kannapolis, North Carolina, on May 30, 1941, the daughter of James and Evelyn (Davis) Trexler, and was a graduate of Bell High School in Bell, California.
Mrs. Nickell was a Secretary in the Elementary Education Department at Ball State University for 20 years.
Survivors include two sons, Jon Nickell, (wife-Kelly), Indianapolis, and David Nickell, (significant other-Susie Lyons), Muncie; a daughter, Elizabeth Neal, Houston, Texas; two sisters, Rebecca Trexler, (husband-David Canoles), Charlottesville, Virginia, and Jane Trexler, Chapel Hill, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Samuel, Jessica, and Ellen Nickell, all of Indianapolis, and Caroline Nickell, Muncie; a long-time companion, Joe; a nephew; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her former husband, Philip Nickell.
