Barbara Eddy Patrick passed away February 15, 2015 at a local retirement home.
Barbara was born March 6, 1921, to Hugh B. Eddy and Flora Cowan Eddy in Twin Falls, Idaho. She joined her older sister, Mary and Carol and Harriet soon followed. When Barbara was four, they moved to Shoshone Falls where her father worked for Idaho Power. In order to attend school, the girls crossed the Snake River, using a bridge above the falls and then climbed the road to the top of the canyon rim where they caught the school bus. Later Idaho Power moved them to Thousand Springs and Barbara graduated from Hagerman High School.
She attended the C of I where she obtained an associated degree in education. She met Leo (Pat) Patrick at the C of I, who with other young men at the college, decided to enlist in the Army Air Corps to support the war effort while she stayed and taught in Marsing.
After Leo finished training and was stationed in Albuquerque, Barbara joined him and they were married. They lived there until the end of the war, when Barbara, who was pregnant with Susan, came back to the Malad Power Plant to live with her parents until Pat could join her. They moved to Caldwell where Leo joined the Model Market and Mark was born.
Barbara enjoyed living in Caldwell and was very active in various organizations.
Mom and Dad enjoyed traveling and spent many happy hours camping in their camper van and joining Barbara’s sister and husband, Mary and Leonard Leth. They even joined them on scheduled tours. They also looked forward very much to getting together with Pat’s family at the Patrick Reunions (Patrick Powwows).
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters Mary Leth, Carol Puleo, and Harriet Mahoney; and her son, Mark.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Allen) Shurtliff; granddaughters, Holly Shurtliff and her husband, Noel Kopke, and Katie (Ryan) Schultz; great-grandchildren, Lila Kopke and August Schultz; and two sisters-in-law, Vesta Young and Lois Harwick.
