Barbara Carver Fagan, age 85, formerly of East Point, GA, and of Newnan, GA, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2014. Barbara was born on January 16, 1929, to the late Henry Newton Carver and Mary Lou “Uddy” (Wood). In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brothers, Henry Newton Carver, Jr., Max M. Carver and Billy Eugene Carver. Barbara was employed by the Fulton County School District for 36 years, from 1954 until 1990 retiring as a Principal-serving as an educator and principal at Harris Street School, College Street School, Dodson Drive Elementary School, Newton Estates Elementary School, and Brookview Elementary School. Barbara also worked for Belk’s Department Store in Newnan for 19 years retiring at the age of 82. She was a longtime member of Faith Creek United Methodist Church and Central Baptist Church. Barbara is survived by her sons, Ralph Collins Fagan, Jr. and Kennon Clay & Merrie Fagan. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Mary Ashling Osborne of Washington, D.C., Patrick Collins Fagan of Atlanta, GA, Tara Marie Gattis, Jessica Lynn Johnson, Catherine Collins Fagan and Claire Emily Grace Fagan all of Newnan, GA. Barbara is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren and 8 nieces and nephews.
