Barbara Bowens Washington, 59 was called home on Tuesday, July 14, 2015. Barbara was born on December 21, 1955 at Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge, MD to the late Roland and Margie Bowens.
Barbara graduated from North Dorchester High School in 1973. In 1973 she went to be a Teacher’s Aide. In 1976 she moved to Milwaukee WI where she was employed at Ambrosia Chocolate factory and various others jobs when she returned to Maryland. Barbara was a member of Body of Christ Church, Waldorf, MD, under the leadership of Pastor Kenneth Stewart.
Barbara is survived by five children Donyere Bowens, Tonisha Bailey (Jerome) both of Cambridge, MD. Vaughn Bowens (Nakia) of Rhodesdale, MD, Andre Bowens of Cambridge, MD, and Baronica Varnado (Louis) of Atlanta, GA. Barbara is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren; Three sisters Thelma Aldridge of Preston, MD, Doretta “Daffy” Bowens of Hurlock, MD, and Gwendolyn “Neecy” Weal (James) of East New Market, MD. A special friend that she called a sister Neta Frazier of Colorado; Two aunts Eunice Bowens of Rhodesdale, MD, and Betty Bowens of Cambridge, MD; Two uncles Jacob Macer of Federalsburg, MD, and Freddie Thompson of Baltimore, MD. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Besides her parents Barbara was proceeded in death by two brothers Levin “Bunky” Bowens, and Delmar “Pick, Pickle” Bowens.
