WALLINGFORD – Barbara “Bobbie” E. Dilks, 83, of Wallingford, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2018. She was the beloved wife of John P. Dilks, Jr.
Bobbie was born on November 7, 1934 in North Haven to George B. and Christine J. Eliason. She attended North Haven grammar schools, graduated in 1952 from Lyman Hall High School in Wallingford, and from Stone Business College in 1954. She entered the work force in banking and eventually moved on to become secretary to the late Headmaster Seymour St. John at Choate Rosemary Hall where she remained until her retirement. She then became the assistant to the director of the Word Processing Center at Choate, retiring from that position in 1995.
Bobbie married John P. Dilks, Jr. on September 21, 1963. They lived in the Wallingford and Meriden area before moving to Ashlar Village in 2001 with their beloved pets, and have since adopted their cat, Charlotte.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sister Jane L. Dicks, niece Nancy J. Wilson and nephew James H. Dicks.
Bobbie was always interested in crafts and developed a strong interest in art, stenciling, sewing, knitting and needlepoint. She was also a member of the Junior Women’s Club in New Haven, the Homemakers’ Club in Wallingford, and was an active volunteer at Ashlar Village.
