Barbara Ann Sweet was born September 4, 1942 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Allen and Mary Harding, who brought her up to be a caring and devoted daughter, wife and mother. Barbara accepted Jesus Christ into her heart at the age of 7 and lived a life devoted to His service. Her greatest joys in life were her family, church and performing with her sisters in Christ in the First Missionary Baptist Church Mission Singers group.
In Barbara’s youth she moved to California where she modeled, styled hair for Ike and Tina Turner’s Ikettes, and played cards with the wife of Ray Charles. She later came to Flagstaff to be close to her family and spent many years sharing her beautiful smile with her coworkers at the Walgreens Warehouse.
Barbara passed peacefully away at the Olivia White Hospice Home on April 25, 2016 after a long struggle with Lewy Body Dementia and cancer. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Beth Dennison and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Barbara was preceded in death by her mother Mary Harding, her father Allen Harding, sister Jo Ann Carlton, former husband Rafe “Pepper” Sweet Jr. and her beloved son Rafe Allen Sweet III.
