Barbara Powell Hudson, 84 born on July 24, 1934 in Easton, MD, peacefully passed away on December 9, 2018 at the Pines in Easton, Maryland. She is the daughter of the late Dorothy Mae Powell Groce and Wilbert Groce.
In 1966, Barbara was united in marriage to the late Wellington Pierre Hudson who passed away on September 20, 2003. Barbara graduated from The Maryland School for the Colored Blind and Deaf Mutes in Baltimore, Maryland. Barbara worked for Easton Memorial hospital for 25 years in the housekeeping department until she retired.
Barbara, affectionally known as “Lovey” was a kind-hearted person who was always ready to give a helping hand when needed. She was adored by her family and friends and she will be remembered for her compassion towards others. She had the personality to keep you laughing and a smile on her face. She was often seen walking in Easton with her best friend of 70 plus years, Retha Kellum. She spent her later years in West Virginia and Florida with her daughter, Marcella.
Barbara is survived by her daughter Marcella P. Hayes, St.Petersburg, FL, daughter Cheryl A. Powell (Larry), Cambridge, MD, Son Ricky Fitzhugh, Salisbury, MD granddaughters Janika Batson (Shawn) Easton, MD, Gloria Palmer (Thomas) Easton, MD, Michelle Gibson (Hubert Greene) Easton, MD, Mason Hayes, St. Petersburg, FL; seven great-grandchildren: Shawn Batson Jr., Destiny Batson, Elijah Palmer, Daijah Roberts, Serenity Palmer, Bre’Ail Greene, and Josiah Palmer; devoted cousin Diane Lewis, whom she grew up with, her best friend Retha Kellum and a dear friend Geary Taylor along with a host of loving cousins, friends & extended family.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her late husband, a great –granddaughter Trinity Palmer and son-n-law Morgan Hayes.
