Barbara Ann O’Connor, 74, of Hagerstown, passed away Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010, at the home of her son, Kevin, in Falling Waters, W.Va.
Born Nov. 9, 1936, in Alexandria, Va., she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Myrtle Mae Shifflett Flick.
Barbara was a graduate of Falls Church High School in Virginia.
She retired from the Department of Energy in Germantown, Md., in 2003, where she worked for 22 years as an accounting technician.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Halfway, Md.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Sargeant O’Connor, in 1999.
She is survived by five sons, Michael S. O’Connor and Patrick B. O’Connor, both of Gaithersburg, Md., Robert F. O’Connor of Yountville, Calif., Steven D. O’Connor and Kevin B. O’Connor, both of Falling Waters; a daughter, Amanda M. McAvoy of San Jose, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brother, Martin D. Flick.
