Barbara Ann Hicks, September 20, 1928 – September 8, 2013.
Barbara Ann Hicks passed away at her residency in Temple September 8, 2013. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend to many. Barbara was born in Enid, Oklahoma on September 20, 1928. She graduated from Enid High School and moved to Belton, Texas to attend UMHB where she majored in journalism, and was the feature editor of the school paper. Following college she was very active in many Salado civic organizations as well as the First Methodist Church of Salado. Barbara married George Hicks on June 25, 1976.
She worked for many years at the Temple VA Center, but she had always continued her love of literature. Overtime Barbara wrote several short stories and one unfinished novel. She also had a beautiful voice; she recorded a record of her favorite lullabies. She was a lifetime member of American Legion Post #55 in Belton. Barbara is preceded in death by both her parents, Marvin and Gladys Jones.
She is survived by her husband, George Hicks;brother, Robert McClane Jones of McAlester, Oklahoma;Daughters: Robyn Evans Smith and husband Dan Smith of Belton as well as Georgia Pirtle and husband Kenneth of Buckholts. Sons; Randy Evans and wife Kim of Belton, Michael Evans and wife Wendi of Granbury, also Loddie Hicks and wife Janet of Buckholts. Barbara has 13 grandchildren and 26 Great- Grandchildren who she adored. Barbara touched many people’s lives and will be missed dearly.
