Mrs. Barbara Ann Ellis of Dunn, N.C. passed peacefully on Sunday April 9th, 2023 at Harnett Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Ellis was born in New Hanover county
on June 21, 1929 to the late George and Leola Best. She was preceded in death by two brothers Billy and George Best, one sister Jean Ballinger, and one daughter, Daphne Sue Jordan.
Mrs. Ellis was married to her late husband, William Leon Ellis Sr. She served and supported him in his PFWB ministry for over 50 years. She taught Sunday school to young adults for over 15 years. Mrs. Ellis had a passion for missions and supported several different homeless efforts. She loved china painting, gardening, and cooking for her family and friends.
Mrs. Ellis is survived by her sons William L. Ellis Jr. and wife Debora of Lenoir, Wayne Ellis and Rhonda of Greenville, Van Ellis and wife Jan of Apex. She is survived by her daughters Yvette Meggs and husband Jerry of Raleigh and Georgeanna Phillips and husband Gary of Angier, a brother Graham Best and wife Rebecca of Whiteville. She was blessed with fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
