Barbara Amanda Marter MacFalls of Cinnaminson, NJ was born on May 7, 1935 in Mt. Holly, NJ and entered into eternal rest on March 9, 2009. She is survived by her cousins Constance Thomas and Patricia Osborn of Fla, Elizabeth Barmeyer of Ca, Mary Jane Phillips of Burlington, and Virginia Case of Ca. She was the daughter of the late Kirkland and Florence VanSciver Marter, longtime county residents. Former wife of the late Donald MacFalls and 17 year companion of the late Hilary Lyons, a family friend whom she met at her mother’s funeral. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Hall, (now Doane Academy) and Vassar College, Class of 1956.

She continued with additional studies at the University of Pennsylvania. Her career as an educator included teaching high school teachers in Prince George’s Co., Md., and in Pennsylvania, and included curriculum development core programs. Barbara was a member of the Red Dragon Canoe Club, in Edgewater Park, and The Porch Club of Riverton. In 1987, she joined the Union League, in Philadelphia, and became a life member as well as one of the League’s first female members .

She served as an American art docent at the National Gallery in Washington DC for 8 years. Barbara also helped form the mobile guides at the University of Pennsylvania, and was Treasurer of Neighborhood League Shops (now Foundation) of Pennsylvania and was a pricer there for 24 years. She was most interested in the Abraham Lincoln Library and the Abraham Lincoln Foundation. Her other interests included antiques, decoy collecting, photography, English History, mystery stories and her garden. When her health permitted, she enjoyed traveling, skiing, and ice skating. In lieu of flowers gifts in her memory to the Music Fund of Christ Church, Riverton, NJ, or to the Vassar College Music Department, would be appreciated.
