Barbara Ann Hoskins, 83, of Oneida, died peacefully at home with her family by her side on Sunday, March 29, 2020.Barb was born January 23, 1937 in Galesburg, the daughter of Walter and Lavonne (Robertson) Melton. She married Robert D. Hoskins on July 18, 1965 in Macomb.
Barb is also survived by two daughters, Julie Jones of Monmouth and Jill Boone of Oneida; one son, Jim (Nelly) Stuart of Warsaw, IN; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, John (Marty) Melton and Dale Melton of Galesburg; and one sister, Kathryn Joan Adams of Ormond Beach, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents.Barb began working at F&M Bank after graduating high school. She went on to work for the Oneida Telephone Exchange as a bookkeeper for over 30 years, retiring in 1999. Barb was a member of the Oneida Methodist Church.
Barb’s biggest joys in life were spending time with her children and grandchildren as well as spending time outdoors walking and water aerobics at the Hawthorne Pool. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Barb looked forward to and enjoyed her monthly outings with her “ROVA girls”. Barb also enjoyed collecting Santa Claus’ as well as painting resins. Barb enjoyed many of her younger years as an avid league bowler.
